PEG-MGF is a pegylated (PEG = polyethylene glycol attached) form of Mechano Growth Factor, a splice variant of IGF-1 that is produced locally in muscle tissue in response to mechanical stress (exercise). Natural MGF has an extremely short half-life of minutes, but pegylation extends this to days, making it practical for therapeutic use. MGF is specifically involved in muscle repair and growth following damage, recruiting satellite cells to injury sites and promoting their proliferation and fusion with damaged muscle fibers.
